Lipton Onion Potatoes

Do you have recipes that when you make them and take them to an event, that you are ALWAYS asked for the recipe?  I have a few that it’s guaranteed that if I bring it, I will be asked for the recipe.  Lipton Onion Potatoes is one of those recipes.   Every once in a while I will ask someone for their recipe and they are reluctant to share because it’s a family recipe or they want to keep the recipe close to their chest so that no one else can make something that scrumpdiddlyumptious.  I am always happy to share my recipes however I am somewhat reluctant to share this when someone asks because it’s so DANG EASY.

 

Ready?

 

Wash your potatoes

 

Thinly slice them and lay them in a 9×13 pan.

 

Melt 2 cubes of butter (1 cup) in a microwave safe dish.

 

Mix two envelopes of Lipton’s Onion Soup Mix into your melted butter.

 

Pour over your sliced potatoes.

 

Cover with foil and cook at 375 degrees for approx 45 minutes or until soft when pricked with a fork

I guarantee that you will be asked for the recipe and I also guarantee that there won’t be any left by the end of dinner!

    • Hi Tara! The potatoes all depend on how big they are. For this recipe I used the ginormous ones that I bought at Costco and it took five. If you use smaller potatoes it may take a few more. And you just use the mix dry with the melted butter. Hope that helps and if you make this, we’d love to hear how it turned out! Deb

  5. I came upon this recipe when looking to see if I could make the standard Lipton roasted potatoes at a different temperature. After seeing your recipe I quickly changed my Easter menu to include these potatoes! They were fabulous! You can get many servings in a 9×13 pan staggering the potatoes the way you do. I think I will try uncovering them halfway thru the cooking time next time I make them to play with the crispiness although they were delicious just the way your recipe is written.   7. I love Lipton Onion Potatoes! They are one of my favorite side dishes. I usually cube the potatoes and fry them up in a pan, but I’m going to have to try slicing and cooking them in the oven next time.
