Clothes Pin Votives

When my husband and I were dating, he asked me if I liked camping. My response was “Oh, I love to go camping”. Since he had grown up camping, he was thrilled to hear that I loved it as well.  It didn’t take long for us to discover we had a very different definition about what true camping entails. He grew up with traditional tent camping. I, on the other hand, grew up motor home camping. He was quick to point out they are NOT the same. I immediately agreed with him explaining “Motor home camping is so much better!”. Since our newlywed budget did not have room for a motor home, I learned to love traditional tent camping! (I still think motor homes are better!)

These clothes pin Votives look like they should be on the table of any campsite! They would be an awesome craft for the kids to do!

The first thing you have to do is make yourself a really awesome tuna melt sandwich. Before having to go gluten free I preferred mine with Monteray Jack cheese on white sourdough bread. Once you have finished your sandwich, remove the label from your tuna can and then wash and dry it out. Next, clip clothes pins around your tuna can. You can leave your votive plain or use some craft paints or permanent markers to add some cute polka dots. Use it as a votive, a planter for some herbs or a plant, or make a small floral arrangement with it. These should take no more than 5-10 minutes to make, unless you decide to account for how long it takes you to make and eat your tuna melt. Either way……….

This Pin Rocks!

I loved reading the difference between your versions of camping. I have a great love for candles and am always looking for new ways to display and burn votive candles. I will be doing this tonight.

    • Terri,

My husband still gives me a hard time about “real camping” and I still smile and laugh! Enjoy making your votives tonight! Tracy – The Middle Child
