Miracle Wand for Cleaning Glass Shower Doors

Miracle wand for cleaning glass shower doors. MadeFromPinterest.netWhy do we often get our best ideas while in the shower? Maybe because we are relaxed, uninterrupted and alone. Recently I had a great idea in the shower, about my shower. I have been so pleased with the results I have had with my Super Simple Shower and Tub Cleaner and Tracy has had such great results with her post about cleaning windows I thought, why not marry the two? It made me think of a commercial from my childhood. Do you remember the one about Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups? It starts with one person eating peanut butter out of the jar and another person eating a chocolate bar. They stumble into to one another and one says to the other, “Hey you got your chocolate into my peanut butter!” The other says, “No, you got you peanut butter in my chocolate!” They both taste the results and decide it is a marriage made in heaven.  I would have to agree. We squeegee our shower everyday, but there was still quite a bit of soap scum accumulated as you can see through the light in my before photo.Miracle wand for cleaning glass shower doors before photo. MadeFromPinterest.netI decided to put this idea to the test. I bought a dish wand and swapped out the sponge for a non-scratch scrubber so it wouldn’t damage the glass. Then I put about a teaspoon of liquid dish soap into the wand, added one drop of jet dry, and filled the wand with water leaving a little space at the top. Then I tipped the wand up and down to mix the ingredients.  I wet down the shower and scrubbed away. I rinsed the shower and squeegeed a portion to see if that made a difference.  Because glass dries more quickly outdoors I found that it helped to squeegee. I took this after photo as soon as it dried. Can you see the glass? Neither can I! But I can see the drip marks on the far wall from condensation! This is an easy way to keep your glass shower doors sparkling clean while you take a shower.

  1. I love this idea!!! We squeegee our shower doors too, but still have some water spots! I’ve never used one of those wands…How did you swap out the original sponge on the wand? Did you have to glue on the new one? I have drips on my walls from condensation too…lol! I wish there was an easy fix for that!

BTW…I smile and think of you everytime I look at my drip tray on my fridge door water dispenser! So shiny and clean!

    • Lillian, the sponges are made to swap. So easy. Just follow the instruction on the package. I use my water dispenser a lot, so if you are thinking of me that often, we must be good friends! LOL!Isn’t making friends in the blogging community great! Sure glad we found you…or I guess you found us! Either way, it’s a good thing.

  6. I have always struggled with this problem since we moved into our new house. Does this solution actually remove the residue to does it leave a film on the residue, covering it for a period of time?

    • The cleaning solution in the wand as well as the scrubbing from the nonabrasive pad do a great job of removing the soap scum. There is no residue. You can quickly and easily clean your shower doors every 2 or 3 weeks!

  8. How do you clean the outside of the glass shower door since you can’t rinse it off?

    • I only use this to keep the inside clean. For the outside I wash as normal. For me the outside does not need such frequent cleaning.

      • You’re lucky. Somehow, the water must be getting through since it’s a sliding glass door.

        • Aha! I see why you want daily maintenance on the outside. I would suggest a spray bottle of this same solution for the outside to spray and wipe down. You could keep a small bottle handy in or near the shower. Hope this helps.

  9. So I wouldn’t have to rinse it? I could just wipe it with a cloth or paper towel?

  10. Use it on the inside while you are in the shower and it will keep your glass shower doors clean. For the outside you would need a spray bottle and cloth or paper towel.

  11. OK. Thanks! I’ll give it a try!
