Improving a cheap plastic cauldron

cauldron

Last year I bought a nice sized plastic cauldron for Halloween but I got it too close to Halloween to really do anything with it so it has been enjoying being crammed between my christmas boxes and my husband's golf bag in our garage.  Imagine my excitement when I saw this on Pinterest! Doesn't this look cool? I WANT MINE TO LOOK LIKE THIS!  Off I went to HauntForum.com to find out how. In reading the instructions, this sounded super easy.  The ingredients? Cheap plastic cauldron - … [Read more...]

Glitter Pumpkins

Glitter Pumpkin

Glitter.  Everything goes better with Glitter.  Even a scary holiday like Halloween!  I personally love Glitter.  The blingier the better.  So what could be better than a little bling on your pumpkins? I made these last year and absolutely loved them.  My daughter also made one which lasted until almost Christmas.  When Halloween was well past, she cut  a little square of construction paper  and slipped it over  the stem and made the pumpkin look like a Christmas ornament. … [Read more...]

Twinkie Mummies

Twinkie Mummies

Next to Christmas, Halloween is my favorite holiday.  I love the colors, the candy, the fun decorations and especially some fun food.  Even though my kids are grown and out of the house, we have an annual Halloween dinner complete with the grossest food. This year one of our family members is expecting a baby and a little sensitive to food so we toned it down a little and went with some fun Halloween food instead of the usual disgusting cuisine like "Bloody Nose Soup". Last night … [Read more...]

Gourd Ghosts

OnSteps

Don't you think these gourd ghosts look great? I thought so too, so about 5 years ago I ran out and bought myself some gourds. Painted them white and then got busy with other things. Halloween came and went, my gourd ghosts never got their faces put on so.... I stored the little guys in the rafters of the garage and forgot all about them. Fast forward to last week when I was planning out what to work on for this week. I remembered my "gourd ghosts" up in the garage rafters already painted white … [Read more...]

Front Door Mummy

SFWEB1

It's a wrap! A front door mummy wrap. I was going to do "Franken Door" until I noticed this pin from Dina at Honey & Fitz. Such a great idea. All I needed was two and a half extra large rolls of crepe paper and one sheet each of black and white poster board.   Supplies - 2 1/2 rolls of white crepe paper, doubled-sided tape, 1 sheet each of white and black poster board.                                                                       … [Read more...]

Halloween Tulle Wreath

P1050507

I LOVE  this wreath created by Gabby from the Local Honey Bee. I'm a lover of tulle. Its cheap, especially when I find a coupon, a little goes along way and it looks great. Since my last few crafts have gone so well, I'm feeling brave, very brave. So instead of making one just like Gabby's, I made a few alterations. I just can't seem to get by without purple at Halloween. So purple tulle was a must, I went all out and got the sparkly version. When Gabby said you need to "cut a lot of … [Read more...]

Make Your Own Vanilla

I pinned this pin last year from "bethany actually" but it was too late to make it for Christmas gifts.  So this year, I was determined to remember to make this in time so it would be ready for Christmas.  I was so excited to get started. Only three things are needed.  Bottles, vanilla beans and Vodka.  So easy!I  bought my bottles online from Specialty Bottles for .74 cents a  piece, and the vanilla beans at Amazon.com.   I have never bought Vodka in my life so felt a little unsure … [Read more...]

Bacon Wrapped Green Beans

Bacon. Bacon. BACON!  What is the deal with bacon lately?  I have seen bacon soda, bacon mouthwash,  maple bacon donuts and bacon ice cream.  I personally like bacon and enjoy a pound or two every once in a while.  Okay, maybe not a pound but definitely a few slices here and there.  But what is this fascination of bacon?  So it was no surprise to see this pin of Bacon Wrapped Green Beans from Mo'Betta and I couldn't resist trying it out.   As she said on her blog "Bacon makes everything … [Read more...]

Grape Salad

When I first saw this pin on Pinterest, I thought that it looked rather  disgusting  not very good. But for some reason, I was attracted to it and clicked through to the original pin (AllRecipes.com) and started reading the reviews.  And they were overwhelmingly positive about this salad.  In fact it received five stars from every review. Really? Now I am on a mission to find out for myself.   Print Grape Salad Author: NFOSSAZ at AllRecipes.com Recipe type: Salad … [Read more...]

Clean your Cookie Sheet

before pan

Who doesn't want their cookie sheets go from grungy to....heavenly? {{Angels singing the Hallelujah chorus in the background}}  And the Pinterest pin said with only ONE ingredient? What could that ONE ingredient possibly be?  Well it's nothing that I had ever heard of before.  And it was NOT easy to find.  In fact, I never did find it locally, I had to order it online at Amazon.com. Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap with Tea Tree Oil.  Apparently this "Magic Soap" has 18 uses.  It didn't … [Read more...]
