Longer Lasting Lettuce Contest

Longer Lasting Lettuce Contest by madefrompinterest.net

You know what I hate? I hate it when I go to make a salad, only to find out my lettuce has gone icky. Don't you agree? I really enjoy a good salad, but I haven't been having much of it lately, because it is winter. It is not because it is out of season that I haven't been having salads, but because in the cold weather I am not in the mood for salad. So I have been buying lettuce, but by the time I get around to making a salad, the lettuce has gone bad. I have been seeing pins for different ways … [Read more...]

Heaping Helping Hash Browns

What are some of your favorite family memories? If you are like me, many of them revolve around food. When I was a girl, my dad and I often went out for breakfast on Saturday mornings. I loved it because it was just the two of us. I talked, and talked and talked and he listened. Those memories are some of my most cherished, so I like Saturday morning breakfasts to be special at our house. To me it is the carrying on of a beautiful tradition. No cereal or toast will do. We have the standard … [Read more...]

No Cracks, Easy Peel, Perfect Hard Boiled Eggs

No Cracks, Easy Peel, Perfect Hard Boiled Eggs

How many hard boiled eggs will you be boiling for Easter? I know I will be hard boiling my share of eggs to decorate this year for Easter. I like at least a dozen per person for dyeing. Decorating eggs is another fun family tradition. Besides, I love hard boiled eggs. They are such a quick, easy, portable snack. Deviled eggs are something I tend to make only in spring and I am looking forward to them. I have had plenty of hard boiled eggs that have that green ring around the yolk. In fact, … [Read more...]

Disneyland’s Loaded Baked Potato Soup

I can truly say I grew up at Disneyland! Why? Becaused we lived about 20 minutes from the Magic Kingdom, not only did we live close by but, several of my friends worked there. That meant FREE tickets whenever we wanted to go. How many of  you remember the "ticket books" with tickets A, B, C, D and E? Anyone recall how much it cost? Remember what the most coveted ticket was? It was the one ticket you got the least of in the book because it got you on the best rides. The coveted E ticket. General … [Read more...]

Baby Blanket Pattern

Crochet Baby Blanket

I am C-O-U-N-T-I-N-G the days until our first granddaughter is born. May 15th is the due date. I've heard so many people say how "wonderful" it is to be a grandparent. What they tell me is that "You get all the fun without any of the work"! I am R-E-A-D-Y! This big question has been what do I want my grandchildren to call me? Both of my grandmothers were "granny" and while that was endearing as a child, it is not what I would like to be called. Debbie has deemed herself "Grammy" which I love, … [Read more...]

Clean Stove Burner

I am in the market for a magic cleaning fairy. Hmm.....actually I would like to find an invisible, magic cleaning fairy. A true fairy is thinner than I am and probably more beautiful. Not sure I want to see that every day! What do I want this magical creature to clean? I'm most interested in having her clean the really nasty stuff that happens all the time. For example, I was making some mashed potatoes the other day. I wasn't paying enough attention and the  potatoes boiled over making a huge … [Read more...]

Potatoes with Parmesan

"Mom, what's for dinner tonight?". How many times have you heard that and thought... I wish I knew! I'm pretty good about planning out menu's ahead of time. But there are always times when despite the best planning you don't have anything ready for dinner and you need a quick and easy idea to help. Potatoes with Parmesan to the rescue!  Did you know that the potato is about 80% water and 20 % solids? Or that  the average American eats 137.9 pounds of potatoes a year? How about this … [Read more...]

Flourless Chocolate Cookies

One of my favorite things to do is taking a Sunday drive with my husband. We leave the kids at home (which of course is fine with them) and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Sierra Moutains. We get to have conversations that are un-interrupted by kids, phones or computers. It doesn't take long for our drive to take us out of "cell phone" range. Funny how you suddenly put the phone away and truly relax when that happens! We come back refreshed and ready for the upcoming week. This past Sunday … [Read more...]

Blender French Toast with Coconut Syrup

Do you mind if I am on a breakfast kick this week?  On Monday I posted about Almond Pancakes with Blackberry Syrup and today we're talkin' French Toast! Yum! Last week I was in Arizona helping my daughter who just had her second little boy.  My primary job was to help take care of her first little boy who is almost 2 1/2 years old.  He and his Grammy (me!) had so much fun.  Don't tell his mom but I let him watch WAY more videos than his mom ever lets him watch.  Shhh.  It's our little … [Read more...]
