I was in Provo, Utah visiting my kids and preparing to attend the SNAP blogging conference in Salt Lake City when I received the invitation from Pinterest. What’s a girl to do? Get on the phone and get a flight back to California so I could attend the Pinterest Launch party! I arrived promptly at 5pm when the doors opened, I could feel the positive energy from everyone at Pinterest as soon as I walked in the door. I was given a name badge and invited in to mingle with the other guests. Pinterest invited 150 members of the press and 150 pinners from the northern CA area to attend. Pinterest headquarters is a trendy industrial warehouse style office space, the first floor has a large open area with conference rooms along the outer edges. We were invited to enjoy 3 DIY activities, learn to fold a handkerchief 4 different ways, make herb infused oil and create a mini terrarium.
Next it was time for Ben to tell us what the launch party was all about, the new guided search for mobile devices. Did you know that Pinterest has 750 million boards with 30 million pins? With the new guided search your results can become more specific, making it easier for you to find exactly what you are looking for.
Pinterest was anxious for us to try the new guided search. After the announcement each of the Pinterest employees had tablets so we could see how it works and give it a try. Abby, one of the Pinterest employees had a question for me. “What can we do to improve your experience with Pinterest”? Chatting with Abby about Pinterest was the perfect end to my evening. Yes my night at Pinterest Headquarters……… Totally Rocked!
