Spurs firmly in Szczesny’s sights

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has fired a warning to Tottenham Hotspur that the Gunners are ready to challenge for third place in the Premier League.

Wojciech Szczesny has urged Arsenal to up the pressure on Tottenham.
Szczesny was speaking after helping Arsenal to a 3-0 Champions League win over AC Milan, which was one goal short of cancelling out a four-goal deficit from the last-16 first leg in the San Siro.

The Pole was downcast after his side narrowly missed out on an amazing European turnaround, but set his sights on making up the four-point gap to third-placed Spurs before the end of the league campaign.
He told Sky Sports: “I wouldn’t settle now for fourth place. We’re four points behind the other North London club and hopefully we can challenge them.

“Hopefully Chelsea can challenge them for a fourth spot as well. I’d be really pleased to see Tottenham in the Europa League next season.”

The Gunners are 1.44 to finish in the top four this season, with Chelsea 2.62 and Liverpool 8.50.

Meanwhile, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger was full of praise for his side, following a superb display which ultimately proved to be not quite enough to rescue their European hopes.

He added: “The players put in a faultless performance, with fantastic spirit and you can only congratulate the whole team.”

Next up for Arsenal is a home clash with Newcastle United on Monday 12th March, with the Gunners 1.44 to register another win and 8.00 to win by a 2-1 margin.
